VanilleActiv2™ is a powerful anti-ageing lipid derived from the solids left behind after vanilla extract is siphoned from vanilla beans. It’s made right here in New Zealand with beans imported from all over the world, including The Kingdom of Tonga.
As well as being the birthplace of Heilala Vanilla (our amazing supplier), Tonga’s tropical sunshine, fertile soil, and moderate rainfall make it the perfect place for sturdy vanilla vines to grow and thrive.

Harnessing the skin-loving power of VanilleActiv2™ is basically ‘waste not, want not’ in action, originally inspired by Heilala Vanilla’s own farmers in Tonga.
Since all of the farmers had daily contact with vanilla beans during the curing and drying process, their hands gradually grew far softer and more youthful-looking. Naturally, this piqued curiosity and eventually lead to the discovery and refinement of one of our favourite exclusive ingredients.
This process is as simple as it is sustainable, leaving zero waste and plenty of skin-loving goodness to go around.
Once the vanilla beans are harvested, they’re dried and cured before they undergo extraction. From there, the seeds are removed and VanilleActiv2™ is collected from the solids that remain once the liquid vanilla extract is siphoned off.
The result? A lipid-rich, nourishing ingredient with excellent anti-ageing abilities and collagen-boosting properties made entirely from natural by-products.

Back in 2002, Heilala Vanilla was set up in the aftermath of cyclone Waka to help Tonga’s Vava’u island get back on its feet after widespread devastation. What started as an aid project rapidly turned into a small vanilla plantation and boutique industry, creating exciting employment opportunities in Tonga as it grew.
Fast-forward twenty four years and Heilala is now an inter-generational, self-sufficient community of vanilla growing specialists, supporting over 400 different families and world-renowned for its sustainable practices.
